My First Dolly

My First Dolly came on Wednesday, July 23, 2008. A DOLLY like I never expected. Although I knew about her coming, I never expected her to behave the way she did. What a spoiled little brat. Well, I shouldn't complain much, she behaved on our side of town. Dolly is the name of the first hurricane that I had to go through. Sure, I remember Gilbert in 1987 or around there, but he was a wimp and I was younger. I did not have to do anything, my parents did all the worrying. BUT now.... I was the worrying parent!!

We were prepared with food, water, flash lights, candles, munchies, munchies, and more munchies. Sounds just about right. Hee hee. We stayed at the Y-Barras while they were vacationing in Dallas. So we had the house all to ourselves!!! Just kidding, in the middle of the storm, Abel had to go rescue his parents, sister, and niece and family. Water was getting into their house. It felt so much better all of us being together. My mom in law brought MORE food and the battery operated TV!! The novela had to go on!

All I know is that I kept telling everyone "eat up, the lights are gonna go out!" So I took my own advice :P During Wednesday night's storm we slept in the living room floor with the sliding door, front door and windows open. It was a cool night with the breeze coming in. Still not cool enough for Abel and the kids to sleep comfortable.

Overall, we were very blessed. Our little mobile home survived, the house we were in survived, and the house we are looking into purchasing survived :D Ally and I would sing and play. She is the one that kept wishing it would stop raining. I would praise God and thank him for what we had. Come early Thursday morning, when all the rain had stopped, and all the wind had died, the lights came back on and it was time to find out what mother nature had done. Thus, we were out of commission at work for 3 1/2 days.

:) Happy and Sad :(

These two feelings at the same time are going on through my soul..... as we prepare for a long awaited move to a new house. Looks like it's right around the corner. I pray that the Lord continue to have favor over us, as we complete this new part of our lives.

Last night I attempted to sort and pack most of the kitchen stuff. (Walls are empty) While I did this, Ally and Adrian were running around the mess. They are so happy here at our warm cozy mobile home. As they run, they know every little corner, when to slow down, and when to speed up. As I watched them, my heart would melt.

I took a little break to text (he, he) and then I broke down and cried!! I cried because so many beautiful memories were created here. I will miss our mobile home. I never imagined I'd feel like this! I was also crying because this home has been a good roof over our heads and from the bottom of my heart, I wish the very same for the next family that will be moving in.

I'll never forget our wedding night. Our 1st night at our mobile home. It was freezing outside and it was so warm inside!! Don't get any crazy ideas!!! :P

I feel like I'm in a Seinfeld episode.... you know, when they say "remember when...." and they show a clip of a previous episode? Anyways...........

Now I'm smiling because poor Abel had to move Ally's bassinet back and forth between the living room and the bedroom every morning and evening. He would get mad because the hallway was too small for the bassinet and him. But we managed and survived!! By the time Adrian came along, we were experienced. The bassinet stayed in the living room during the day time and at night, he would sleep in the crib, which was set up in the bedroom. DUH!!! We didn't even think about it before!!!!

On one last note, I had to go throw FOUR large bags of trash this morning. We don't have individual trash cans, so we have to use the parks dumpster...... While the swarm of hungry mosquitoes attacked me.... I thought.... "Maybe I won't miss this afterall" :-/

Wearing my shades.....

Adrian got his first pair of shades on Sunday. He actually likes them and leaves them on!! I guess he wants to be like daddy? He even likes to put them on top, to get them out of the way.

Bobby Ville....

Bobby Ville (Robert Villegas) is my father in law's baby brother. He has had an interest in playing music since 1963. He was featured in Sunday's San Benito News. My father in law also has a love for music.

I have always wanted to blog about my father in law, A.K.A. "Mele" or his real name, Samuel Villegas. He has a part-time job, but he plays on the weekends with a local band. Anyways, he kinda has bad eye sight, so we tell him he needs to stop playing, so he won't have to drive at night, and this is what he tells us "NO, me muero!" That he'd die. His passion is music.

Back to Bobby Ville, and no, that's not where I got the idea for MY blog.... He likes to sing oldies. He played with a famous band at the age of 18. He later decided to go solo, and he recorded his own album in 1970. He performed at various locations. He now performs at San Benito Wings on Saturday nights. He sings to Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones, Elvis Presley, Tony Orlando, and yes, a little Freddy Fender. I am happy he is still doing what he loves to do :D

My mother in law is concerned.....

San Benito is known as the "The Resaca City of Lights." On Friday morning, at one of our Resaca's.... an alligator was spotted!!! I was surprised to hear that and at the same time, a little freaked! This is the same place that we do our walking every morning!

That is why my mother-in-law does not want me to go walking anymore! I told her we'd be fine! She keeps trying to convince me to stop, but I'm still gonna go :) I told her that it has probably been there all this time and it has behaved...... Needless to say, I looked for some type of spray at Academy today, "ALLIGATOR REPELLENT" but I didn't find anything.... Just kidding!! I will make sure I pray every morning that I don't become a prey to this creature. I will also watch the discovery channel for any tips incase of attack :)

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Chocolate Cake

The finished product.......

Babel almost didn't get to eat it on his Birfday!! But, better late than never!!!!

Just 32 :)

Today 32 years ago, my hunny bunny was born :) I still wasn't born, but he was getting a head start :) He was born in Freemont, OHIO. We started the day by having breakfast at a local mexican restaurant. We all ate good, mmm, tortillas de harina! Then we stopped by his mom's house before we went to Brownville.

This day felt so good for all of us!! We (no kiddoes) later went to the movies. We went to see "Dark Knight" aka Batman. I enjoyed the movie! It was fun, exciting, loud, and you get the point. Afterwards, we went to go pick up the kids, ate some banana split cake his mom made, and then picked up some What-a-burger! At about 10:00 p.m., I finally had a chance to bake his cake! He doesn't mind, because he knows we've been busy all day long.

For some reason, he seems to be like wine. "The older the better" :D I LOVE YOU BABY!! Oh, you can see he liked his present, he is sporting his shades in the first pic....

Ta Loco!!!!!!

On Friday, July 11, 2008 we traveled all the way to the Dodge Arena. Ay si, muy lejos!! Anyways, it was my first time there. The Famous George Lopez was performing!! We bought the tickets long long time ago and the day finally came! In alphabetical order... here are the ones that went.... Abel, Ariel, Belia, Jennifer, ME, and Nacho! Before George came out, some other comedian came out. I bet he was funny, we just couldn't understand him though!! The audio was messed up or something. I was getting a little worried, I was hoping that we could understand George. And sure enough, George was very clear. Just sitting here typing, I get a huge smile.... he is so funny! Poor Abel and Ariel, I was sitting between them laughing and laughing!! Don't ask me to repeat any jokes, porque sabes que, I don't remember them and I just mess it up when I try to say one. But little things here and there remind me, and I start to laugh out of the blue. I DIDN'T sneak in my camera ;) Somehow I got a little video. Aver si jala?

We had such a great time!! My throat was hurting the next morning and my voice was sounding different on Sunday morning. George knows how to hit the nail on the head!! He touched a little on how we didn't have toys, lunch-a-bles, playstations, wii's, and baby monitors back then. Nombre, he was more than hilarious!! I'm very happy we were able to go!!! And if I could go again..... I would :D
