Shrimp, Glitter, and Cowboys

What do all of these have in common?? My birthday I guess....
SHRIMP- A shrimp fry was done for me @ my in-laws home on Saturday. Along with all the trimmings...fries & onion rings. Boy, was everything delicious!! Thanks Everyone!

Glitter- My bro & sis in law got me a "gag" gift. The know that I am a sucker for "sparkly" stuff, like glitter makeup or body powder, etc... Can you believe they got me a bottle of glitter and a pack of glue sticks?? They say that I put the glue on my eyes or face and then I throw the glitter on me so it can stick!!

COWBOYS- Duh, need I say more?? DALLAS? Anyways, I also got a "Dallas Cowboys" t-shirt for my b-day. Supposedly they were down 0-3 on Sunday because I was wearing it, WRONG!!!

Do you believe in Aura's?

I'm not sure I do, but the other day, I think I felt a person's aura. I was returning from lunch, and as I headed for the lobby, I could almost feel the presence of a man that had given a speech when I was in Junior High. I can not remember his name. Anyways, I could not see him from where I was at. As I made my way to the elevator...I passed by him...keep in mind, I still haven't seen his face, I believe I just saw his left arm. He was sitting right by the door way I had gone through. When I passed by, I remember asking myself "Is that that man?" So as soon as I got into the elevator, I finally looked at his face..............and it was HIM!!!!! It was too weird for me. I can remember thinking that he was a good man when he gave us his speech @ school. He tries to help people. I have seen him in newspaper articles. I read up a little on auras and anyone can see or feel a person's aura. It just takes practice. That's the only explanation I have.

I finally figured it out!!

I just read this: "Inside me lives a SKINNY woman crying to get out, but I can usually shut her up with COOKIES and CHOCOLATE!!" It took me this long to figure it out!! Now it is all clear to me!!

September 18, 1976

Yesterday was my birthday and for the first time in a long time, I was so excited about it. Once I became an adult or a young adult I really didn't get excited. I would get happy because God gave me another year, but for some reason, this year was different. When I walked out of the house today, after lunch, I still felt this burst of happiness. I thanked the Lord for all the blessings in my life!! I truly am greatful!!!! I love my husband and our children!! I am happy I have my parents and my two grandmas. My family sang "Las Mananitas" to me yesterday. The moment I remember the most is my welita Margarita singing it. She would get a little out of breath but she would keep going. My mom made tamales and a strawberries and glaze cake. My uncle made "pozole." It's like beef soup with chile and hominy. I am still accepting gifts, you can mail them to....J/K!!!

ADDENDUM:.....OH BY THE WAY. AT WORK, MANAGEMENT WENT OUT EAT TO CELEBRATE BIRTHDAYS. WE HAD A GOOD TIME @ THE SEAFARER (I might have mispelled it). I had this delicious jalapeno, cheese, and onion stuffed chopped steak. Finger lickin' good! My birthday, what a wonderful day!!! I think I sha'll continue celebrating all week!!

I'd like to introduce the Reyes!!

I asked my little sister for permission to share her slide show and she said ok. They are currently stationed in Virginia. My bro-in-law is a Captain in the army. Carla is 4 years old and Sebastian is 1 yr and 4 months. I love them and miss them all so much!! Here is her slide show at Virginia Beach..........

BOB BOOKS

Allyson, my BABY kindergardener, is READING!! This past week, as I was going to start reading to her, she said "I can read it mommy." I let her, and she took off!!!!! I had no idea she could read!! These are 5th grade level books!!! Just kidding!! Anyways, the books are called "BOB BOOKS." We had not touched these books in over 1 1/2 years. I am so proud of Ally!! She still gets stuck sometimes. I like that at her school, the responsibility is placed on us parents to read to them. The homework sheet asks for the title of the book and our signature. So no excuses!!

Bend & Snap!!

My hunny has been working as a marine technician for a couple of months now. He had not gotten his uniforms yet, until last week. Since he has been wearing them, I tell him I really like the way he looks! There's something about the uniform that I like? So yesterday we even played out the part in "Legally Blonde I".......BEND & SNAP. He started off by telling me "I've got a big one for ya." I dropped my pen, and I did "bend & snap." I tried not to injure his nose though, but he did pretend like I had. He should have known that I was setting him up for a blog!!!! Hee Hee. Anyways, I like his uniform.

****TOP TEN REASONS****

These are my top ten to be considered a blog-a-holic. If you at least meet 4, you're in.

10. You have a blog spot.

9. You get mad because people tell you the comment instead of posting it.

8. You use the phrase "Blog about that" at least 3 times a day.

7. You count blogger logo's at night instead of sheep to go to sleep.

6. Instead of checking your voicemails @ work 1st, you check your comments on blogger.

5. You prepare drafts to post @ a later time.

4. You can't wait for the next day to see if you have any comments!

3. You try to convince others to join the blogging family.

2. Blogging is the last thing you do before bed or you actually stay up very late to be able to blog.

1. You attend blogger anonymous meetings.

Did you meet any? I certainly did. I'm pretty sure we all have our Blog moments. Which is kinda neat though. I'm happy Sal introduced me to this because I also read another true phrase " Maybe if I blog about it, I won't Forget it." I'm really bad with my memory, which my employees can vouch for that. I hope I keep this going long enough for my children to read it later. This is all fun!!!

Need Directions???

Do you need the scenic route or the right way?? On Friday I had a meeting in Mcallen, TX @ South Texas College (STC). I looked @ the map (which I am not good with), I saw 6th street, Col. Rowe, and I said "I know where that's at!" My sister lived in that area. Once I was there I stopped @ Walgreens (Dove & 10th) to ask. The employee there told me, yeah it's around here, "Just follow the watto towo (water tower) (it was an oriental guy ok!) Anyways, I was so proud of myself... I thought "I read the map right!!" I find the watto towo and that's all it was, the water tower said "STC" but no STC under it!!! Long story short, I was on the total opposite side of where I was supposed to be! Needless to say, I found my way. The meeting was very interesting. Did you know that robots are performing surgery here in Mcallen, TX??? I had kinda read a headline a while back, but of course.........I did not read the article. Dr. Rick Martinez was one of our speakers. He is a surgeon which is currently using the robot!!! It was a little scary to me because the patient is on the bed, robot with 4 arms over the pt, and the surgeon is a couple of feet away at the "Surgeon Console." The surgeon controls all of the robots arms of course. Patients are really seeing the benefits of this type of procedure. Quicker recovery, less blood loss, shorter hospital stay, alot less painful, etc!! They are doing procedures such as open heart surgery, hysterectomies, urologic, and others. Just to tell you this, with open heart surgery, they would have to cut the sternum. With the Robot, they go in through the rib cage!!!We got to see a video, which was really neat! The scary part is that Dr. Martinez said that the future is......FOR EXAMPLE.. The patient will be in Harlingen, TX and the surgeon doing the surgery will be in Houston, TX!!!! How freaky is that?? He did say, the only way he would have surgery like that would be with a live surgeon also at the patient's bedside (just incase). Patients still have 3 choices right now.

  • Open all up
  • Laparoscopically
  • Robotic

We also had another very good speaker...Aaron Lara from the LIVEstrong Foundation (http://www.livestrong.org/). At age 28, he survived a horrible case of testicular cancer. He is an advocate of the LIVEstrong Foundation, founded by "Lance Armstrong," champion cyclist. Mr. Lara, now 32 says this is his passion. The LIVEstrong Foundation has an awesome resource for anyone dealing with cancer. A copy of the manual can be obtained from him for free or from the website for a fee. Although I don't like to talk about this subject, I had to mention it because he is doing his part to spread the word of support, and I'd like to help, even if it's a little.

"Pretend we are in San Antonio"

I had to use that title just one more time for my brother in law "Iggy." We were supposed to go to San Antonio this weekend, but due to the weather being unpredictable, we decided to stay here. So Iggy said I had killed that phrase already because everywhere we'd go, I'd say "Remember, we have to pretend we are in San Antonio." Anyways, on Saturday we went to Schlitterbahn in South Padre Island. "We" is us and my sis in law, bro in law, niece and nephew. We had a great time!! I had never been to Schlitterbahn before. The weather was really nice, sunny then kinda cloudy. There were several highlights during the day. 1st one....once on the "Rapids ride" I was in a double tube with Adrian, Ally was in a double tube by herself, and my sister in law & Hailey were in a double tube. The guys had gone on another ride. I was so scared that Adrian or Ally were going to be thrown out of the tubes during the drop in the rapids. (Remember, all of this was new to me.) Thank God that they did not jump out. Meanwhile, my niece was having the time of her life!! Hailey wanted to go through the ride again, and everytime she said that, Ally would say, in a mad tone "Well I don't!!!!!!!!!" Ally can't stand water falling on her face. Highlight #2 We were at the children's section "The Sandcastle Cove" and Adrian was walking around everywhere. I kept following him...but my beach pants were loose. I untied them while he was standing next to me, and then HE TAKES OFF!! Of course, my paranoid mind forgot about my pants, I let them go to grab Adrian............OOOOOPPPSSS, my pants fell to the ground!!! All my family was laughing, I quickly hid behind a big pole to pick up my pants and tie them up!! The employee that was there by the slides was also laughing at me!!!! Afterwards my hubby was telling me that I was trying to dance with the pole!! NOT very nice. Highlight #3 Bo, Iggy, and my hunny were in line for a ride. I happened to see Bo finish the ride so I knew Iggy was next, I waited to take take a picture of him, then Abel. Iggy comes out, I take his pic, so I am ready to snap my hunny's picture, I am waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and No Abel!?!?!? Then all of a sudden the water from the ride stops!!!! I took a couple steps back and I could see that Abel was stuck on top of the ride!!!! He looked so funny!!! An employee ran up there to save him! Needless to say, we all had funny moments!
